Mental health--Self Care
SELF CARE: TIPS
First of all i will like to define mental health for people who don't know much about it.
Mental health refers to cognitive, behavioural, and emotional well being. Its all about how people think, feel, and behave.
Currently, the world is changing or has changed and has slowed down, it has also changed the lifestyle of a lot of people, people who usually aren't used to being cooped up in their homes, people who aren't used to spending time with their family and people going through trauma, whether it be psychological or physical.
There is also a lot of social anxiety going on and people are becoming unhappy, angry , frustrated and simply just acting out, that is why i have decided to create this post today to uplift people going through similar stress in order for them to move forward and focus immensely on their well-being.
Tips: Hope you find these helpful x
1) Journal: Journaling is amazing way to work through thoughts and emotions , honestly whenever i feel down or if i wake up and i'm not just feeling good about anything or myself i write , i write down how i'm feeling or how i want to feel in order to motivate myself. If you feel like you aren't the kind of person to do something like this and wouldn't be bothered to try it, i urge you to try it because it honestly does help.
You could try an online journal or buy yourself a journal that has questions and exercises to help you dig deeper and get really specific.
2) Organize your space: When things tend to get harder and out of your control i feel like we should focus on things we can control, things we can change and make better , you can control how the space around you looks and feels , if it feels neat, fresh and tidy, then your mind will surely reflect that and feel more calm as well.
3) Disconnect: I feel like people should always find time to disconnect, just put your phone away, play some good music and live in the moment, listening to news, social media, or reading emails just causes more stress and adds to your anxiety. There is a fine line between staying informed and just loving drama.
4) Meditate: The best thing you can do to calm yourself and your mind from the crazy things that are happening in the world is to meditate , it keeps your mind and heart peaceful and you will be able to focus on the things that truly matter.
5) Music: put on some of your favourite music and just vibe to it , personally i feel that this helps in keeping the mind clear from troubles and it makes you feel really good. I personally love Sam smith, Harry styles and some Gospel tunes when i need to calm down.
6) Read: Get lost in a good book, whatever book you want or you think you might enjoy, it could be a comic or a novel i honestly does not matter as long as it takes your mind away from things for a while.
I highly recommend A series of unfortunate events by lemony snickett or the Harry potter series or a book i recently read again called zeroes. (its really good).
7) Pray before bedtime: prayer isn’t just for the religious, I view prayer as a way to listen , speak and connect. I ask , I give thanks and I allow myself to be honest because I feel like praying before bed is a way to reflect on your day and be thankful.
lastly, just follow your heart, you don't need to feel obligated to do anything in this list to keep busy.
You could do nothing, simply do nothing and just take time for yourself , the whole point of this is to not feel forced or pressured to do anything, just take time to explore yourself, the beauty of it is that you never know what's coming. x
